The Issue is Homosexuality! – Among responds to Museveni

Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has responded to Museveni barely an hour after a letter to her from the President leaked on social media.

In the letter dated May 23, 2024, the president asserts to her that he got information that is contrary to what Among had told him earlier, that is, that she owns no house in London. After detailing the location of the house, Flat 4, Silk House, 7 Waterden Road, London, E20 3AL, United Kingdom, he asks her; “do you own that house or you are renting it?”

The President then copies the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Inspector General of Government (IGG).

With in minutes of the leaked letter from the president, the Director of Communication and Public Affairs at the Parliament of Uganda, Chris Obore posted on X; “Speaker Among owns no property in UK. We would be glad to see the land title of the alleged property. The lies have expiry date. President Museveni is evidence-based decision maker not driven by emotions and will demand evidence.”

Malicious Content!

A few minutes after the Spokesman issued the tweet, Speaker Among fired; “while I had chosen not to respond to the pieces of malicious content and schemes thrown at me, I wish to comment briefly on the issue of my alleged ownership of properties in the UK…”

She goes on to request the parties involved to stand on the principle of natural justice of “he who alleges must prove.”

The house plot the president quoted, she says, is not “owned by myself.” Below her statement she attached a document, purportedly from His Majesty’s Land Registry that lists a history of the property register, proprietorship register, and charges register. In the attached search, Among does not appear in it. The search was done as by May 28, 2024.

That did not stop critics from taking her defense with a pinch of salt though. In a sarcastic remark, Godwin Toko, an anti-corruption activist, who has been vicious crusader against corruption in Parliament wrote; “…also if I ever become a corrupt politician, I definitely wouldn’t buy a house in my name. I am told that even here, some corrupt politicians do that…”

It remains to be seen whether the President will exonerate the Speaker, or whether he will emerge with new allegations.

But the Speaker insists, like she has responded to all the criticism that has come her way lately that the issue is homosexuality. ” The crux of the matter is about targeting Among for being vocal against homosexualty. The rest is coverup.”
