Elections Are Influenced Not Meaningless as PFF Demands Recognition from EC

Kampala, Uganda – In an appearance on NBS Morning Breeze this Monday morning, Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda now donning a fresh political hat as the acting spokesperson for the newly-formed People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) threw bold statement at the Ugandan political establishment, Electoral Commission (EC) and the wider electorate.

“We have never said that elections are meaningless,” he emphasized. “What we have always said is that their outcomes are influenced.”

In a subtle dig at Uganda’s existing political parties, Hon. Ssemujju pointed out a rather curious trend.

“Almost every political party that has registered in Uganda has blue in it including NRM and NUP,” he said.

He then took a moment to differentiate PFF: “Our dominant colour is white, with just a strip of royal blue.”

This deliberate departure from the blue-drenched symbolism of other parties might just be the PFF’s first visual rebellion.

PFF, which has been quietly building its political infrastructure submitted its signatures and party constitution to the Electoral Commission in November 2024. But nearly six months later, there’s still no official gazetting or certification.

“Since then, we have been in and out of the Electoral Commission,” Ssemujju revealed. “We are demanding that they gazette us and issue the certificate.”

With Hon. Ssemujju Nganda a former FDC firebrand and one of Parliament’s most outspoken figures taking a lead role, PFF is not just a fringe experiment. It’s a serious player with serious grievances.

PFF’s emergence comes at a time when political fatigue is setting in among Ugandan youth, opposition circles and even some ruling party loyalists.

Many are questioning whether the country’s old political vehicles still serve the people or just those behind the wheel.

Hon. Ssemujju’s explosive morning appearance wasn’t just a PR stunt. It was a declaration of intent.

“We’re not begging for space,” he said. “We’re demanding our right to participate in Uganda’s political process.”
