President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on this morning hosted the outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Uganda, Her Excellency Frederieke Quispel, at his Kisozi Farm to mark the formal conclusion of her diplomatic tour of duty.

The head of state expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Quispel for her efforts in strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and the Netherlands during her posting, which began in July 2024 and spanned close collaboration on agriculture, trade and investment.

During the farewell meeting, President Museveni highlighted what he described as a significant evolution in ties between the two countries, a shift away from traditional foreign aid dependency and toward a mutually beneficial framework built on trade and investment.

“I thanked her for her contribution to strengthening Uganda-Netherlands relations, particularly the shift from traditional aid to trade and investment,” Museveni said following the engagement.

That shift has been a recurring theme of Quispel’s tenure. In earlier engagements with the President, she helped steer cooperation on agriculture and animal feed production including support for the De Heus Fish Feed Factory in Jinja and worked with Ugandan smallholder farmers to expand the supply of raw materials such as maize, cassava and soya for the sector.

She has previously described her posting in Uganda as among the most rewarding of her diplomatic career.

Museveni also used the farewell to encourage the departing envoy to remain a goodwill ambassador for Uganda’s economic potential, urging her to help mobilize more corporate investors from the Netherlands and the wider European Union to tap into Uganda’s emerging market opportunities.

Concluding the meeting, the President extended his warm personal regards to Ambassador Quispel, wishing her well in her upcoming assignments.
