Family members, friends and supporters of Muwanga Kivumbi gathered at the International Crimes Division (ICD) of the High Court this morning in a show of solidarity as he returns to court.

The supporters arrived early at the court premises, where they were joined by relatives of the accused, including their children, ahead of the scheduled proceedings.

According to supporters, the group remains steadfast in backing Kivumbi and the other accused persons throughout the legal process.

Some described the charges against them as politically motivated, a claim that reflects the position of the accused and their supporters.

Authorities have previously maintained that legal proceedings are conducted in accordance with the law.

The court appearance comes amid heightened public interest in the case, which has drawn attention from opposition supporters, civil society groups and political observers.

Security was maintained around the court as proceedings got underway, with supporters expressing hope for a fair and expeditious hearing.

The case remains before the court, which will determine the matter based on the evidence presented by both the prosecution and the defence.
