The State minister for privatisation and Investment, Hon. Aminah Mukalazi yesterday joined the youth of Kampala in launching the Kampala Cup of Divisions (KACOD), at the Protea Skyz Hotel, through the State House Local Content Unit (SHLCU)
The event that brought together youth leaders from across the five divisions of Kampala also incorporated the three municipalities of Wakiso to make the tournament a mammoth campaign across the greater Kampala Metropolitan area.
Represented by the SHLCU Private Secretary Moses Nyabakwini, Minister Mukalazi appreciated the youth for their great effort to mobilise communities through non political avenues for development.
“The conclusion of the election season should not mark the end of youth organisation and community engagement. The networks, leadership skills and organisational capacity built during political mobilisation can now be channelled into sports, skills development, entrepreneurship, community service and economic empowerment.”
She further thanked them for taking initiative to address community needs rather than waiting on the government to do everything for them, while in the same vein encouraging them to keep the tournament respectful of divergent political views.
“This is the spirit of responsible grassroots’ leadership. I urge our young leaders to become agents of positive change in their neighbourhoods, to mobilise peacefully and inclusively around issues that affect their communities, and to respect divergent political views while preserving unity and social cohesion.”
The Minister as Head of the SHLCU was actively involved in the 2026 campaigns that brought back President Yoweri Museveni to power with a resounding 71% victory.
While speaking at a rally dubbed “Yogayoga” organized by the same office to congratulate him, at Kololo Independence grounds, the President thanked her for the great efforts, and told the country to report to her all issues regarding corruption, for prompt solutions. She was subsequently made Minister of State for Privatisation and Investment a docket that oversees the Uganda Investment Authority, Public enterprises, private sector regulation, and promoting Foreign Direct Investment.
The Youth thanked her for her tireless efforts in supporting their programs. She contributed 500,000shs in cash to them, and pledged to coordinate sponsorships for the group.
