President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, pending the appointment of a substantive minister.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Presidential Press Unit (PPU)

According to the statement, President Museveni made the appointment in line with Article 99(1) of the Constitution of Uganda, which vests executive authority in the President.

“In exercise of the powers vested in the President by Article 99(1) of the Constitution, I hereby appoint you as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the absence of a substantive Minister,” President Museveni stated in a letter addressed to Kasolo.

Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo currently serves as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Regional Cooperation). His new assignment places him in charge of the Foreign Affairs Ministry on an acting basis until a substantive minister is appointed.

Kasolo has been involved in Uganda’s regional diplomacy efforts and cooperation initiatives within the East African Community and other regional blocs.

The appointment ensures continuity in the operations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a time when there is no substantive minister in office. The ministry is responsible for managing Uganda’s diplomatic relations, international partnerships, and representation in regional and global affairs.

Government officials have indicated that Kasolo will oversee the ministry’s functions while awaiting the President’s appointment of a permanent office holder.
