A joint intelligence-led security operation conducted overnight in Rubaga Division has resulted in the arrest of several suspects as police intensify efforts to combat crime in Kampala’s metropolitan areas.

The operation, which was led by Kampala Metropolitan South Regional Police Commander (RPC) Rogers Seguya, was carried out between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM following numerous complaints from members of the public about rising criminal activity in the division.

According to information released by the police, security teams focused on locations that had been identified as crime hotspots within Rubaga Division and surrounding areas.

The operation brought together District Police Commanders (DPCs) from Nateete, Katwe, Nsangi, and Kajjansi, highlighting a coordinated approach aimed at addressing security concerns across multiple jurisdictions.

Police said the exercise was intelligence-led, meaning security agencies relied on gathered information and crime reports to identify areas requiring immediate intervention.

Authorities confirmed that several suspects were arrested during the operation. The individuals are currently undergoing screening and profiling to establish their identities and determine whether they may be linked to criminal activities reported in the area.

Police said the suspects are being processed at Nateete Police Division, where investigations and legal procedures will continue.

The overnight crackdown follows growing concerns from residents over incidents of theft, robbery, and other forms of crime reported in parts of Rubaga Division. Police have increasingly relied on intelligence-led operations and targeted patrols to disrupt criminal networks and improve public safety.

Security officials say such operations are part of broader efforts to maintain law and order across the Kampala Metropolitan area.

Police have urged residents to continue sharing information that can assist law enforcement agencies in preventing and investigating crime.
