The head of Uganda’s Internal Security Organisation (ISO) collapsed yesterday, January 29th 2025, and was pronounced dead.

Brig. Charles Oluka, collapsed at his home in Seguku, and was rushed to Seguku Hospital.

Faruk Kirunda, President Yoweri Museveni’s press secretary in a brief statement on X, announced the death.

“Sad news coming in of the sudden death of the Director General Internal Security Organisation (ISO), Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka. He died at Seguku Hospital where he was rushed this evening. Details to follow… May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Up to now, no details have followed.

Oluka assumed the office of Director General ISO, substantively, four years ago, in October 2020, replacing Col. Kaka Bagyenda, a National Resistance Army (NRA) historical in major reshuffles that came from the rapprochement of the governments of Kigali and Kampala.

Oluka has been a career Intelligence officer in the ISO where he headed the operations and later technical services before being appointed the Director General.

In 2018, the fallen Intelligence General was suspended by his boss Kaka, after a Finnish arms dealer was found dead in a room at the Pearl of Africa Hotel, in the heart of Kampala.

Oluka has been one of the longest serving officers in the Intelligence agency.
