Bukenya Charles Muvawala a Ugandan-American and Vice President of the Uganda North American Association (UNAA) was reportedly abducted by unidentified individuals in Nakulabye.

According to sources, he had momentarily stepped out of a sauna to withdraw money from an ATM when he was taken.

Security agencies however, have distanced themselves from the incident claiming they have no knowledge of his whereabouts.

Muvawala’s sudden disappearance has sent shockwaves through Uganda’s diaspora and human rights circles.

UNAA is an organization that bridges Ugandans in North America with their homeland.

Eyewitness accounts remain scarce adding to the mystery of Muvawala’s fate. His alleged abduction follows a troubling pattern in Uganda where individuals of opposition and activists have been kidnapped in broad daylight only for security agencies to later admit holding them or deny involvement entirely.

The lack of CCTV footage or witness statements further complicates the case.

Uganda government’s track record on enforced disappearances has come under scrutiny in recent years.

Families of missing persons often endure days or weeks of uncertainty only to later learn their loved ones were being held in undisclosed detention centers.

With growing online campaigns like #FreeMuvawala gaining power, the pressure is mounting on authorities to provide answers.

Muvawala’s case is particularly significant because he is a Ugandan-American meaning the U.S. government may step in if foul play is suspected.

It also raises concerns among Ugandans in the diaspora many of whom fear traveling back home due to the increasing trend of unexplained arrests and disappearances.

As of now, Muvawala’s whereabouts remain unknown. His family, friends, and UNAA colleagues are demanding immediate action while activists call for transparency in security operations.
