NRM District Chairpersons Endorse Speaker for CEC’s Second National Vice Chairperson (Female)

Kampala, Uganda – National Resistance Movement (NRM) district chairpersons from across Uganda have unanimously endorsed Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of Parliament for the influential position of Second National Vice Chairperson (Female) on the Central Executive Committee (CEC), the highest decision-making organ of the party.

The surprise political development unfolded during an official visit to Parliament today turning what was expected to be a routine interaction into a moment of political significance.

Speaker Among, who has already made a name for herself as one of the most vocal and authoritative figures in Uganda’s political sphere received the endorsement with a mix of humility and resolve stating,

“I do not take this trust lightly. The future of the NRM depends on grounded leadership that connects with the people and delivers results not just stories.”

Her words were met with thunderous applause from the district chairpersons many of whom credited her decisive leadership, grassroots connection and undeniable work ethic as reasons for backing her bid.

This endorsement isn’t just ceremonial, it signals a potential realignment within the power dynamics of the NRM especially ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The Second National Vice Chairperson (Female) seat is a critical platform that influences grassroots mobilization, party strategy and national policy influence particularly among women voters.

Political analysts see Among’s endorsement as a clear vote of confidence by the district chairpersons and a message to the inner walls of the party that she’s a force to reckon with both inside and outside Parliament.

NRM district chairpersons are key players in rallying support during elections said their decision was based on “performance not position.”

According to them, Speaker Among has remained accessible, realistic and fiercely loyal to party values even while balancing the often aggressive environment of Uganda’s multiparty Parliament.

Speaker Anita Among’s political ascent has been anything but ordinary. Rising from a banking background to become the Speaker, her presence has reshaped what it means to be a woman in power in Uganda’s political ecosystem.
