I will never give you an answer! – Among fires back

peaker Anita Among has heaped blame on alleged gay lobbyists over reports of corruption in Parliament. 

While chairing the plenary session on Friday, March 15, Among strongly stressed that reports are “cooked up rumours because she said no to homosexuality.”

 “I will never give you an answer on hearsay, or rumormongering. Me to answer you on hearsay? On things you have cooked up on social media because I have said no to [homosexuality],” she stated. 

The matter was brought before the House by Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi who tasked Among to make clarification on the trending reports of irregular recruitment, mismanagement of funds, among others. 

He was backed up by Hon. Theodore Ssekikubo who also noted that the image of the Parliament is at stake if the reports are unanswered. 

Among would task the legislators to present evidence stressing that Parliament handles evidence based reports. 

The alleged reports revealed documents obtained from Financial Intelligence Authority that show the Speaker spends up to Shs400m per week. 

It also emerged that between February 8, 2023 and April 17, 2023, over 2bn was transferred to Daniel Adilo a staff member of Parliament, for alleged private activities of the Speaker.
