Uganda has joined the international community in expressing condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela following a devastating earthquake that resulted in loss of lives and left several communities affected.
The Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, visited the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Uganda, where he signed the Book of Condolences in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
Representing the Government and people of Uganda, Kasolo conveyed Uganda’s deepest sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones and extended messages of support to those injured in the disaster.
“We stand with the families who lost their loved ones, wish a swift recovery to the injured and reaffirm Uganda’s support and friendship as Venezuela recovers from this tragic disaster,” Kasolo said.
The minister described the gesture as a reflection of the strong friendship and solidarity between Uganda and Venezuela, assuring the Venezuelan people of Uganda’s support during the recovery process.
The signing of the condolence book at the Venezuelan Embassy comes as authorities in Venezuela continue rescue, relief and recovery efforts following the earthquake.
Uganda’s message adds to growing international support for the affected communities as they rebuild in the aftermath of the disaster.
