Leaders from Buikwe district Local Government have decried the numerous accidents along the Lugazi- Jinja highway and want the central government to mention its plan to alleviate the problem. The leaders say that the area has become a death bed, especially along Mabira Forest.
They lament that the road is full of potholes especially in Mabira Forest, and yet this is a major trade route for the country.
The Member of Parliament for Buikwe South Dr. Lulume Bayigga says that they long informed the minister for Roads and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala, who promised that the road will be financed, but there is since dead silence from him.
Mugoya Steven, a councilor at Lugazi Municipality says it is regrettable that the road that transports honorable members of the country’s government is in such bad shape, yet those same people have capacity to do something about its rehabilitation.
Mugoya claims that there is an accident om this road almost every day due to the poor condition it is in.
