Uganda Police Force has arrested three police officers attached to Butambala Police Station to assist with investigations into a fatal shooting incident in Gomba District.
According to Police, the officers were arrested as part of ongoing efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The suspects have been identified as Police Constable (PC) Mujuni Nicholas, PC Welikhe Dan Alex, and Corporal Foste Bosco.
Police have intensified investigations into the fatal shooting of Katerega Musa, a machine operator at Abbarci Industries Ltd, in Gomba District, leading to the arrest of three police officers attached to Butambala Police Station.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the incident occurred on July 1, 2026, at around 4:00 p.m. in Kanoni Cell, Kanoni Town Council.
Preliminary investigations indicate that officials from the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA), accompanied by an armed security team and police officers, had visited Abbarci Industries Ltd to inspect the coffee processing facility.
Police said the inspection team was reportedly led by an official identified as Mathias, who was known to the Acting Factory Manager and Accountant, Nalubega Zalika.
Investigators have since obtained video footage showing a scuffle among some of the people present shortly before the fatal shooting. Authorities are working to establish what triggered the altercation and how it resulted in Katerega Musa’s death.
As part of the ongoing investigations, Police have arrested three officers attached to Butambala Police Station to assist with inquiries. The officers have been identified as Police Constable (PC) Mujuni Nicholas, PC Welikhe Dan Alex, and Corporal Foste Bosco.
The three suspects remain in custody and are expected to be produced before court as investigations continue.
Police said they are committed to conducting a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
